trip to the oregon coast August 2011

this year for our Ward Family vacation we rented a beach house on Kiwanda shores in Oregon for a few days. it was a very fun trip! especially for little Alix. we went to the ocean last summer, but she was too small to really play or enjoy it much. this year she fell in love with the sand! her very first time using a shovel and pail she was using it like a pro! she loved having so many cousins around to play with. she could have spent all day outside in the sand with the other kids!











at low tide one day we went down to the tide pools. we saw some starfish, some anemones, and some big and little mussels. alix was more interested in the sand of course. there were horseback rides on the beach. alix loves horses so she loved watching them go by. and she enjoyed watching the waves coming in too.







and of course she loved walking on the beach with her two favorite people in the world! grandpa and Daddy



alix had a blast running on the beach!

she found a sand dollar and was using it as a shovel. she and her cousin Efram were playing together putting sand on a big log on the beach.

she absolutely loved digging in the sand! and had a blast playing with her cousins!






on the last night we were there i went out to play with the zoom and panoramic features on my camera and to take some sunset pics over haystack rock. it was beautiful

ITS A BOY!!

Carter Scott Ward will be arriving in mid-November this year :)

pretty little flowers!

the sun didnt quite want to come out today, but it was somewhat warm (mid-60's) and not raining so i decided to take Alix for a walk in the park to get a little exercise (cuz my prego butt needs to not gain a bunch of weight). there are some pretty little white flowers all over the place so i brought the camera with to get some cute pics. i figure if she doesnt like the playground i might as well let her pull out flowers and grass

just a quick post to show the new baby's ultrasound pic. i am 10 weeks 2 days, which makes my due date 11-12-11 :)

exciting news!

Alix is gonna be a big sis!! we had a midwife appointment today and got to hear the heartbeat and it was awesome! i'm about 10 weeks along. we have an ultrasound on monday morning to determine more closely the due date so hopefully i'll be able to add some pics of the little jelly bean on monday :)

cloth diapering

about 6 weeks ago we decided to switch Alix from disposable to cloth diapers. it's been a learning process, but the money savings that will come from not having to buy diapers every few weeks will be pretty awesome. and some of the diapers are adorable!

here's Alix with the first diapers we got in the mail! plain boring colors, but in the end all they're for is catching poo ;)


they make her booty nice and fluffy so when she falls down it hurts less

i know what you're thinking... "ew, you wash the dirty diapers?" and my answer is... YES I DO! it's not that bad. we use liners that can be flushed for solids and a pre-rinse before washing makes sure i'm not washing them in pee. these aren't your mama's old fashion cloth diapers!
